An observant eye, ready smile, firm handshake and warm hug: these are the things that you immediately notice about Denny. He applies them all with alacrity. Rev. Sandra Fischer |
(860) 653-7289 |
Sandra’s journey to South Church began many years ago in the mid-west when she felt the call to ordained ministry as a young girl. Being raised in a theologically conservative denomination that didn’t ordain women prevented Sandra from responding to God’s call in her life as a young adult. A detour through law school in Virginia at Washington and Lee School of Law and many years as a practicing attorney in the Hartford, CT area, finally ended when she chose at age 40 to commence her seminary education; first at Hartford Seminary and then at Yale Divinity School......{ Read More }

As an educator and community builder, the Rev. Tamara Torres seeks to cultivate radical self-acceptance as a path to divine love. She believes that we can experience, and multiply, God’s love when we learn compassion for the most vulnerable and rejected, both in the world and within our own selves. She joined our South Church family in December 2012 as the Associate Minister of Faith Formation and Youth Ministry and is excited about the opportunity to work in a local church body with learners of all ages in a capacity that addresses the whole person: mind, body, and spirit.{ Read More }

Victor Evans |
(860) 653-7289 |
You might not know that Victor is an Air Force “brat”, but that has taught him how to quickly make friends and adapt to new environments easily. Perhaps that is why he is such a wonderful interim organist and bell choir director at South Church. Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, he has traveled quite a bit around the country, with his childhood years spent in Colorado Springs (to which he’d like to return some day) to Tulsa, where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music... { Read More }

Mission trips are a part of our community/world service. They include both adults and youth in proactive efforts to bridge and bond with people who have fewer advantages than us. The mission group shares its experiences with our church, and the mission trip benefits those we serve, those who take part in the trips, and the wider church as a whole.
