Salmon Brook Music Series

The Salmon Brook Music Series continues to plan concerts which bring people and music together.
Thank you to all who supported the Salmon Brook Music Series this past season. We have been working hard lining up acts for this coming season! Next up...

Saturday, March 10 Richard Wood & Gordon Belsher 7:30pm
From Prince Edward Island to the Salmon Brook Music Series in Granby come two extraordinary musicians. Wood and Belsher have each toured extensively across Canada, the US, Europe, Japan, and Australia. On March 10, they add Granby to their travel resume.
Fiddler and composer Richard Wood has won three Canadian East Coast Music Awards and was named one of the top 100 Canadians to watch in the 21st century. His flawlessly precise music ranges from graceful beauty to firing energy. Accompanist on a variety of instruments, and featured vocalist, Gordon Belsher has been entertaining audiences around the world for more than 40 years. He has won considerable recognition for his musical artistry. Gordon has been making music together with his friend Richard Wood from time to time since 1995.
Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door. Purchase tickets by calling Arlene at 860-916-5066 or Homemade desserts will be available for purchase.

The Bruce Porter Memorial Music Series for 2017-2018
Founded in 2011 by members of South Congregational Church, Granby’s new classical music series is devoted to honoring the life and work of Bruce Porter, and his contributions as an organist and director. We will present four events in the upcoming season, thanks to the support of the Granby Education Foundation and the generous donations received from those in the Farmington Valley community who have attended concerts at South Church for the past several years.

Sunday, December 3, 2017, 4pm-- Under the baton of their new Music Director, Brian Seemann, The New England Ringers are excited to present "Christmas With All the Bells and Whistles." New England Ringers, playing six full octaves of large and small handbells, will perform exciting arrangements of your favorite Christmas tunes, joined by organist Richard Bunbury. (After all, an organ really is just a big whistle!). Don't miss out as they pull out all the stops for this 2017 holiday concert season!

Friday, January 19, 2018, 7pm-- Jason Roberts, organist extraordinaire, accompanies three black-and-white silent film comedy shorts by Buster Keaton with his improvisational wizardry.

Sunday, April 22, 2018, 4pm--The Hartt Collegium Musicum, a near-professional level student Baroque Orchestra, under the direction of harpsichordist Kenneth Nott and violin virtuoso Emlyn Ngai, returns to the series for the fourth time.

Free admission, with donations accepted, the BPMMS is supported by the Granby Education Foundation and the music ministry at South Congregational Church, 242 Salmon Brook Street, Granby, CT 06035. South Church is wheelchair accessible from the side-door. For more information call 860-653-7289.
