SCC allocates at least 10% of its operating budget for mission and outreach. It has established a board that oversees this minimum objective and aid and oversee other mission that may from time to time emerge from the Board or the Congregation. The church has active hands on missions that last five days or more and other hands on missions that may only be a day or two trying to engage as much of the Congregation in mission as possible.
Over the last several years the primary and handson missions contributed over 20% to the benefit of local communities, those around the state, nation and world. We are excited to say we are looking to the future to grow on these good works and touch and benefit more people around us in ways that are ever improving.

Mission trips are a part of our community/world service. They include both adults and youth in proactive efforts to bridge and bond with people who have fewer advantages than us. The mission group shares its experiences with our church, and the mission trip benefits those we serve, those who take part in the trips, and the wider church as a whole.

SOW AND REAP GARDEN CLUB is celebrating its 50th year ! We are 25 active members who enjoy gardening and meeting monthly for fellowship, food and special programs.
We coordinate the schedule of Sunday altar flowers, make and deliver May baskets to homebound members, learn flower arranging, and hear special speakers. The annual May Plant Sale on the church lawn offers homegrown perennials and is popular with Granby residents. The profits provide church Christmas decorations and support for maintenance of church grounds, as well as donations to community projects.
“Whatever a man sows, so shall he reap” Galations 6, 7. For 50 years our members have been learning and serving.

The primary responsibilities of the Board of Finance are to plan and oversee the financial resources of the church. Specifically, this entails developing the church’s operating budget and preparing the financial reports for the annual financial meeting. The Board also manages the investment of the church’s two large trust funds – the Holcomb and Bunnell Funds – and ensures that the church maintains adequate insurance coverage. Finally, the Board directs planned giving initiatives.

The purpose of the Board of Deacons is to oversee and provide for the spiritual life of the church family. Acting as a sounding board for and support to the minister, the Deacons take on the following tasks:
- Assist in the administration of the sacraments (Baptism and Communion)
- Provide for the care and nurture of members and families through oversight of the Caring Ministry, organization of transportation to church services (God’s Taxi), and assisting during Sunday services (greeting and reading)
- Oversee the maintenance and use of the sanctuary
- Receive and allocate memorial funds directed to the church
- The Board of Deacons is dedicated to helping create a welcoming atmosphere at South Congregational Church.
The Church Council is the governing board of the church and acts on behalf of the Congregation between Annual Meetings. Our purpose is to act with God’s leading on behalf of the Congregation.
The Committee includes Officers of the Church and the Chair people of our various boards. We meet monthly and work on formulating plans and processes that help move our church forward into the future.
We work closely with our Minister(s) to identify and establish short-term and long-term goals.
We are the main communication link and sounding board between the Congregation and the various boards and committees. We appoint delegates to represent South Church at our Conference meetings and form ad hoc committees to perform special work of the church when required.
