Christian education for all ages

educationcommittee120One of the missions of South Church is to provide an effective and continuing program of Christian education, which will nurture the church family in Christian faith and mission, and enable each individual to mature as a Christian.

Community Bible Study An opportunity for Bible Study is offered periodically on Tuesdays at 10:30 AM in the Teale Room. Leadership is shared between South Church and First Church. Sessions begin in September in the parish building and continue through mid-May, and people may attend at any time.

ADVENT BIBLE STUDY This will be a small group study of Advent texts for this year. It will be an interactive, relational study that will work toward an application of the text to our own lives, and offer time for prayer and support. We will be following the Serendipity process for each of the texts: Luke 21:25-36; Luke 3:1-6; Luke 3:7-18; and Luke 2:41-52. Dates: November 11th, 18th; and December 2nd & 9th at 7:00 PM.

Kaleidoscope Corner

sundayscool2The multi-faceted images of a kaleidoscope represent the sense of wonder and variety we infuse into our children's educational ministry at South Church. Our experiential rotational model considers all learners and creates a space where children don't just learn information but live into what it means to be a Christian. Bible stories, rituals, mission and time spent getting to know one another combine to create an atmosphere that celebrates both activity and silence as we find God in the most surprising places. Children pre-school through Grade 8 attend Kaleidoscope Corner during our 10:30 service and also have the opportunity to worship with the congregation at various times throughout the year. It is our hope that the time spent in Kaleidoscope Corner builds a foundation which will endure as the children grow into young adults.
