Children Education

kidsDSC_0078Jesus said, Let the little children come to me (Matthew 19:14). And come they do to South Church each week! We welcome them with open arms and offer a wonderful array of activities, shepherding children of all ages on their own faith journey. (learn more)

On any given Sunday, the children may participate in a scavenger hunt, enjoy a puppet show, write a prayer, sing a song, or learn a dance, all while learning to be part of a faith community. Using story, ritual and relationship, children given the opportunity to worship, share their gifts and grow in safe and nurturing spaces where we all learn together about who we are in God’s world. That process includes understanding those whose lives are different than our own through a variety of local, national and international mission projects throughout the year.

South Church is a wonderful family destination. Come spend a Sunday morning with us!

Youth Faith Formation

kids-gallery-DSC_0084Our youth ministry continues to evolve as we attempt to answer the needs and schedules of this active group. Through worship, fellowship, confirmation and mission, youth have many ways to make connections and stay involved with the faith community. On-going renovations to our dedicated youth space give youth a place to call their own where they build strong bonds in a safe environment. Our Confirmation program asks youth to make their own choices about their faith journey and various mission programs provide opportunities for the kids to move beyond themselves and realize their place in God's world. South Church remains dedicated to making connections with the youth in our community and providing a caring place where kids are always welcome

Confirmation

Confirmation is a year long program for ninth grade students (older teens not yet confirmed are welcome as well) who are interested in learning more about the church and their role as a follower of Jesus. Confirmands are mentored by an adult of faith and meet approximately twice a month, working with the Minister through a curriculum that allows them to ask questions and come to their own conclusions about being a Christian. The culmination of the program is Confirmation Sunday in early June.
